OUR HISTORY
CBC Ironton was founded on April 26, 1903 as the Lombard Baptist Church, meeting in the old Lombard school building, under the parenthood of First Baptist Church in Ironton. The first pastor, Rev. T.F. Carey was called on Feb. 2, 1904. The church moved to a new building on Lorain Street in 1904 and was renamed the Lorain Street Baptist Church.
The church remained at this location until 1975 when the old Central Christian Church at the corner of 5th & Quincy St. was purchased. Since the church was no longer on Lorain Street, it voted to rename the church Calvary Baptist Church. From 1903 to today we strive to be a lighthouse to the city of Ironton.
“LET YOUR LIGHT SO SHINE BEFORE MEN, THAT THEY MAY SEE YOUR GOOD WORKS, AND GLORIFY YOUR FATHER WHICH IS IN HEAVEN.” –MATT. 5:16
